IT’S TIME TO RELAX, REFRESH AND RANUNCULIZE YOURSELF.
SPEND A DAY AT THE FLOWERS FIELDS THIS SPRING.
CARLSBAD, CA (November 14, 2006) - The vibrant waves of color that
splash the hillside of The Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch invite visitors
to experience the horticultural beauty beginning early March 2007. This
spring, for ten weeks only, this inspirational destination will use every
inch of its fifty-plus acres to exhibit their renowned Giant Tecolote
Ranunculus, abundant roses, world famous Ecke poinsettias and the new
addition of the international orchid event. This spectacular sea of color
will burst into bloom and transform into a vibrant rainbow that attracts
over 120,000 visitors each season.
The Flowers Fields is the only working ranunculus field in the world that is
open to the public. This burst of color will be complemented by many other
perennials and annuals, including the theme gardens and the All-American
Rose Selections. Coupled with educational activities, the blooming gardens
entertain and refresh… creating a lasting impression. This year the Flowers
Fields introduces a unique orchid shopping event where there will be over 20
vendors with orchids for sale from around world. Guests can walk the fields
or relax and enjoy the open-air antique tractor ride through the fields. In
addition there are various special events including Kids Days, Bluegrass
Day, Arts & Crafts Fair, National Volunteer Week and the new Canon
Photography Workshop.
The curtain is up, and once again the Flower Fields has staged a visually
delightful rendition of the American Flag. The American Flag of Flowers is
created with red, white and blue anemone flowers that are strategically
planted on a 300 by 170 foot hillside paying tribute to the United States.
In addition, guests can meander through the field of wonder within the Sweet
Pea Maze, which is comprised of fragrant and colorful “old fashion” sweet
pea blossoms. Guests will be truly amazed as they are enveloped in the
swirling ambience of wonder and scent.
This season Fred Clarke, the new general manager, brings his orchid
expertise and many fresh and innovative ideas to the fields. There are
additional resting areas that were placed throughout the hillside and a new
sitting area that offers a panoramic view where guests can immerse, relax
and enjoy themselves in the serene, breathtaking waves of color. “We invite
visitors to spend a day at the Flower Fields, it’s like an outdoor spa where
your senses are stimulated, exercise is a beautiful walk, the water tastes
sweeter as you look at the ocean views and you relax in a field of color
unlike anything you might have seen or done before,” said Clarke.
To encourage visitors to enhance their personal home and gardens with The
Flower Fields varieties, The Flower Fields has once more partnered with
Armstrong Garden Centers where visitors can shop and purchase Flower Fields
brand products in its 33,000 square-foot facility located at the site.
Open to the public seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. from March 3rd –
May 13th , The Flower Fields provides free parking, restroom facilities, and
handicapped accessibility for guest convenience. The cost is $9 for adults,
$8 for seniors and $5 for children. Group tours are also available at an
additional cost.
